Oils and Metal
Ezra creates a mythical world where nature and humanity collide.
Ezra Larsen is a Vancouver-based painter and metal sculptor whose work explores the meeting point between the natural and the mythical. His paintings of people, animals, and landscapes evoke a sense of unity with the living world, where human forms and natural elements merge creating a world that tickles the edges of our current perception. Inspired by the cycles of life, decay, and renewal, Ezra’s art reflects a belief that nature itself carries a sacred intelligence.
Working with recycled metals, he creates sculptures that embody the raw energy of life. Many of his pieces represent elemental spirits, manifestations of playful energy that lives within us. The anatomical precision of his figures, combined with their organic movement, gives them the feeling of something both ancient and alive.
Through his work, Ezra invites viewers to rediscover their connection to the natural world, and to remember that we too, are part of its enduring rhythm.
Original
Ezra worked with the city of Quesnel, GNW Scene Shop and the Lhtako Dene nation to create a life size bald eagle sculpture. Using up-cycled stainless steel, he hand cut every piece to bring life to his sculpture. The piece is now permanently installed atop a stone column in the Lhtako Dene Park.
Around his busy schedule, Ezra finds time to create custom work for his patrons. He loves to create anatomically inspired metal sculptures or paintings of animals, loved ones or scenery.
